I just got back Part I of Opening from my editor Marvin Wilson! Yep, I’m doing the happy dance. I’ll be going over this the next few days and making the final revisions (but really, when is it ever finished). I sent him Part II this morning. This represents 63 percent of the manuscript. Phew! Almost there. It’s been a lot of work but the end is in sight. I’m still shooting for late September for the release date.
I’m putting together a Blog Book Tour, albeit without the normal constraints that many people associate a BBT with. I’ll be visiting blogs in October and November whenever it’s convenient for someone to squeeze in their busy holiday schedule.
As with my BBT last year, I won’t be doing a lot of promoting of my books. I’ll focus on particular writing, blogging, and science topics that are practical to the reader, then conclude with a paragraph touting my blog and links to purchase or download Opening. I have some awesomely great topics lined up!
For an example of my blogs from last year’s BBT, you can scroll down a bit and check out the links to these very useful posts.
If you would like to consider hosting me, please email me at golionssss@yahoo.com I know, I know, I really need to get an email like breakthrough@yahoo.com or something like that. I’d be happy to forward you on a signed copy of Opening or a coupon for a download. We can also do a home-and-away where I also host you! Cool beans!
And I’ll be coming out with my first blurb for Opening sometime in the next week. A concept for the artwork for the dust cover has been so far elusive. But I’ll figure something out. Which begs the question: Does the artwork matter to you when deciding on purchasing or downloading a book? Me, I'm more concerned with the synopsis.
And some people are still emailing me they still see the grey-out and cannot leave comments. I'm still working to fix the problem. Aarrgghhhh!!!! Blogger can be so frustrating at times.

Congrats then Stephen.
I think the cover does matter to most folks, but I don't pay much attention to it. Reading a snippet and then learning about the author are more important for me.
Artwork is very important in a cover I think. A great cover can lure me in and a bad one can put me off. I may not get to the blurb if the cover doesn't promise me something of the story first. Not always true, but often enough if I'm honest.
The cover catches the eye, the synopsis makes the sale!

Yay for you making great headway, Stephen! I do think a good cover helps to sell a book, so good luck with your cover, too. I agree with Cloudia that the cover catches the eye and the synopsis can seal the deal.
I like that. The cover catches the eye and the synopsis closes the deal. Nicely done everyone!
Hi Stephen - and congrats! It seems things are moving at a fast pace for you :-) I'm helping to plan/run a blogfest in Oct/Nov and have a bunch of other stuff on the slate, but I would like to host you maybe in January (if you're still intersted by then!)
Congrats Stephen, I have finished compiling my poems for my book, re-written them then have to do the blurb and get someone to do the cover then it's all systems go.
Look forward to your October plans.
Yvonne.
Yes, the book cover art work speaks to me first! Then the blurb! YAY for your final edits and soon to be book tour!! Exciting times ahead for you!! Hoooorah!! Happy dance away! Take care

Congrats on your progress! The cover is the first thing that catches the eye and a dinining factor on whether I pick up a book to read the blurb. :)
First of all, I LOVE Happy Feet, caught my eye. That is my point as well with the art work. If you don't cause a pause will the synopsis be read?
Congrats though! :)

Hi Stephen .. congratulations on moving along so fast .. good for you.
I'd love to do a reciprocal posting like last time ... it'll be a pleasure ..
Art work certainly has an influence when I'm just browsing at books (will I be able to do that soon?!), but so too does the synopsis .. and the colour to a point: let alone the subject, length and print size.
Good luck .. but count me in for a posting here and there .. cheers Hilary
Well, I kicked around a few ideas in my head while laying in bed this morning. I have a few that I'll sketch out and play around with this week. Hopefully something will stick and I can move forward with it.
I'll host you! And yeah, cover art makes or breaks a book for me. If it's not cool, I won't even pick it up.
Yeah, looking forward to reading OPENING!
Hey Steve, it's Rusty from the Blutonian Death Egg. I just wanted to let you know that I'm one of those folks that sees a grey fog over your posts and cannot comment. Just in case you thought I'd forgotten about you. I'm still checking in, I just can't post my comments.
Good news about the end being in sight for your sequel.
Rusty
